This digital drawing is inspired by a new word that I found applicable to my life - "Heartworm".
"A relationship or friendship that you can't get out of your head which you thought had faded long ago, but still somehow alive and unfinished, like an abandoned campsite whose smoldering embers still have the power to start a forest fire."
I tried to visualize the feeling of loneliness and surprise from the realization that someone you thought live far in your past somehow still sneak into your thoughts from time to time. A literal image of " worms coming out from the man's heart" and the hopelessness that caused him to do nothing but sit against the wall in the corner.
Why do we still feel lonely when we are surrounded by people? Why do we feel lonely at all? Maybe it's because when someone left, they took a piece of you with them. Like a worm digging a new hole into your body, and whenever your soul tries to run through the emptiness, you feel lonely.
